The students have all arrived now and they are excited about being in Genova, exploring and traveling, which is refreshing. We are really excited for this semester and it’s hard to believe that in a few three short weeks we will be back in Florence and Rome! It’s not every day that one gets to throw that out there, I am one lucky lady.
The students have been trickling in so there isn’t really a set routine amongst everyone yet. Many of the students have been traveling for days as they got caught somehow by the winter storms in the US. Many of them flew through Paris where you have to pick up your bags and recheck them, they are not checked straight through, without knowing that several students are still without luggage and have been wearing the same clothes for several days.
Today I helped Cristina in the kitchen before lunch as Lucia was out this morning. I not sure that she will ever ask for my help again – ha ha! She was so sweet as to show me though how she wanted the lettuce and tomatoes cut and I will have to say with the tomatoes her way was much faster and easier. You can definitely tell the students are back with the morning door buzzes of the fruit and veggie deliveries and the fully stocked fridge. So far the students have been really impressed with the meals we have had, and I have to say we started out with some really delicious, hearty dishes. Tonight was a beef stew over rice, which I could have kept eating until the pot was gone. She is such a wonderful cook and to prepare a meal for 20 + is even more amazing!
