and you will get a HOT shower. This morning we woke up early because we read at the campsite that the limit was 5 mins due to fact that they would run out of hot water, so I wanted to be sure to get there early. Well when they said it was hot the did not lie, it was actually scalding hot. So hot that you couldn’t even put your hands in it, so this was a bummer. I managed to get my hair rinsed out and called it good enough, but this was only after Nick ran and got me a cup to put the water in to dump on my head.
We then set out for our last full day of driving, again we are still a day ahead so we had some wiggle room here. Stopping off where and when we wanted was nice, except the weather wasn’t too cooperative today, it was overcast and misting so there really wasn’t much to be seen.
Below is a brief update of what we saw….
Saxholl Crater, where we walked up 374 steps (300 meters) and then back down.

Beaches and lighthouses, including a well where liquids flow, water, holy water and ale. Trust me there was no ale here.

Drove up an f road to singing caves, hiked around, sang a little song where the dwarfs used to sing. Tried to find the glacier but the clouds were too low.

Found another gas station, enjoyed hot dog snacks.

Rainy and foggy so headed back to Rekjavick to find we had to pay a ridiculous toll of about $8 to travel the tunnel through the ocean.
When we got to Rekjavick we located our Airbnb for the next night, walked around for a bit, found happy hour deal on beer at local bar, had beers, popped in and out of souvenir shops scouting out what to buy the next day.
Then headed back through the tunnel, begrudgingly paying the toll again to our campsite. We tried to avoid it by finding somewhere along the road to stop, only to have driven out of our way, wasting gas, time and money, but finally made it there, set up camp looking at the ocean. Made a delicious and final dinner out of the back of Escape consisting of PB&J, tuba fish, pasta ACS applesauce. We finally saw a beautiful sunset and off to bed, looking forward to a cosy bed tomorrow night!
