After spending a week in the hospital Nick was finally discharged today and brought back to the villa via ambulance. He had high hopes to be discharged Thursday, but they stated he had a slight fever, so needed to stay one more day. He was pretty upset when he learned that it was only 0.2 above normal – ahhhhh!
He had surgery on Thursday to repair the fracture, the surgery took an hour and half longer than anticipated due to the complication of the fracture. They ended up placing an internal plate, as well as an external device that he will have to wear for 2 months, hopefully after x rays in one month he should be able to bear weight on it! We will have to make weekly visits to the hospital for them to check and clean the external device – I was really praying all the taxi rides were over for awhile…
We arrived back to the villa today just in time for lunch and Cristina baked him a very delicious ‘Welcome Home’ apple pie!
The students left for their trip this evening, so it is just Nick and I in this big ole villa all by ourselves again, I am hoping that he can catch up on some stuff for school and get acclimated to villa life with the use of only one leg.
Thank you to everyone for all your thoughts and prayers – it has been an interesting couple of weeks, but there is nothing we can’t handle going forward 🙂
